The Electric Chicken
The Electric Chicken is an intriguing and somewhat peculiar fly pattern used in saltwater fishing. It is an incredibly ugly baitfish pattern that is deadly! The Electric Chicken is an attractor pattern that doesn’t necessarily resemble any specific natural food source. Instead, it relies on bright colors, flash, and action to grab the attention of fish. Despite its unconventional appearance, this fly has proven effective for various species, including redfish, snook, and even larger fish like giant trevally (GT) and sailfish when tied on a sufficiently large hook. The fly is usually fished with a slow retrieve and allowed to sink to the bottom where it can be bounced along the bottom to imitate a crab moving along the bottom.
