The Golden Retriever was originally created in Virginia about 30 years ago by Jim Finn. The fly is very effective are effective dead drifted under an indicator, swung through the current, or retrieved on a fast strip. Big browns and steelhead love this fly as well as crappie, bluegill, and small bass. Landlocked salmon also can't resist the golden retriever. hen this fly gets wet, the body material becomes semi translucent, making the red underbody visible to the fish, which is a great attractor.
